Track work on the Danbury Branch between Science Road and North Water Street
- Monday, October 2 - Friday, October 6, from 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
- No impacts to local roads, rail service or pedestrian traffic are anticipated.
- Noise and construction lighting are anticipated.
Track and Catenary Improvements on the New Haven Line
- Friday, September 29 - Saturday, September 30, from 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM.
- Monday, October 2 - Friday, October 6, from 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM and 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM.
- No impacts to local roads, rail service or pedestrian traffic are anticipated.
- Noise and construction lighting are anticipated.
Roadway Activity
Overnight utility work from Fitch Street to Winfield Street on East Avenue
- Monday, October 2 - Friday, October 6, from 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM.
- Alternating one-way traffic at Fort Point Street and East Avenue.
- All local property and business access are maintained.
Marine Activity
Construction activities northeast and southeast and northwest and southwest of the WALK Bridge on the Norwalk River
- Monday, October 2 - Friday, October 6, from 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
- Construction activities to install marine and pile driving.
- Construction noise is anticipated.
Other Activity
Allison Wyatt Playground temporarily closed during improvements to the Oyster Shell Park tidal wetland
- Monday-Saturday (Hours of operations depending on Norwalk River’s low tide).
- Noise and construction lighting are anticipated.
- Allison Wyatt Playground temporary closure maintains park users’ safety during Oyster Shell Park tidal wetlands improvements.
- Public access to Oyster Shell Park and the Norwalk River Valley Trail is maintained.
- Event parking at Oyster Shell Park is maintained but reduced by approximately 12 spaces.
- Pedestrians and cyclists are advised to follow directional signage with construction flaggers on hand for safe access to the trail and walkway during operations.
- The Oyster Shell Park, a tidal wetlands area, includes excavation to remove invasive species; the result will be the construction of a living shoreline, including plantings, oyster cultch and a terrapin habitat area.
Related Project
Eversource and its contractors will continue excavating along Elizabeth Street and a portion of Day Street for the installation of a new water main
- Monday, October 2 - Friday, October 6, from 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
- At times, Elizabeth Street and the northern part of Day Street will be closed to thru traffic.
- Local property and business access will be maintained, but on-street parking will be reduced near the work areas.
